Distemper is a traditional, interior paint that is brush applied with a Distemper
or Lime Brush. The finish is very flat like Interno but has a softer blooming
that is achieved by adding a chalk and lime solution.
Distemper must be applied to Limeproof Undercoat Sealer.
When you're ready to paint, combine your chalk
and lime solution with the Distemper base and mix well.
Once the ingredients have all been blended you will need to
use the paint as soon as possible as the product will begin to harden.

Distemper is applied with a traditional brushstroke. Cut-in as you go, work from top to bottom in an area as wide as your shoulders, keep a wet edege and don't stop until you have completed the entire wall from edge to edge. Allow to dry completely and apply the second coat in the same manner but don't follow your original brushstrokes as this will reduce the natural handmade appearance of the paint and highlight mistakes. Allow the wall to dry and you will have a unique, beautiful, soft, hand-applied finish.
Some things you should be aware of with this product are: Distemper is best used as a decorative finish in low traffic areas. This paint can't be cleaned or washed as water will react with the lime and cause staining. If you need some extra durability then consider Matt Wall Sealer which is designed specifically for interior Distemper and Interno. Wait seven days for the Distemper to cure then brush apply two coats of Matt Wall Sealer to the surface. Matt Wall Sealer will create a sheen, reduce the natural appearance of the paint but will make the surface wipeable.
