An architect asked me to make a series of custom colours in Fresco.
Fresco is our version of Venetian Plaster:
a traditional finish that's applied with a stainless steel trowel,
then burnished and polished before being sealed with a hardened wax called Stucco Wax.
Before you add tint to Fresco, the untinted base has a similar hue to the above cartoon:
it's creamy. So, if you're ever asked to make custom bright colours in this product,
don't add any of the earthier or natural tints to the base, unless you really have to.
Once you think you've created your colour, dry with a hair dryer a sample on a piece of cardboard first.
Allow the product to cool then wipe and polish some Stucco Wax on to the surface.
Stucco Wax changes the colour slightly and creates a deeper hue.
Yes, it takes a bit of time to create custom colours with this product,
but the finish does look impressive. And, to be honest,
with a little practice most people should be able to master a good technique pretty quickly.
