Forty-two years ago in the north Sydney suburb of Greenwich,
architects Barry and Lyn designed a beautiful family home.
Lyn's dad was the builder and her brother was the electrician.
Originally the home was rendered with a cement coloured with sand,
but this was eventually painted over with Boncote.
Not so long ago Barry decided it was time to freshen the aged,
chalky walls. I recommended a painter who scraped and cleaned and patched the walls,
sealed the surface with Mineral Silicate Primer then top-coated with Mineral Paint.
Now, Lyn thinks the walls look like velvet and she's super happy with the final finish.

With the copper roof and downpipes and the natural timber elements,
Barry's memory is going to last many, many years before
this beautiful family home needs to be repainted.
